Map of Córdoba
A thousand years ago it was the largest city in Europe. Today its old town, one of the largest on the continent, is a maze of white alleys running down to the river, with the Mezquita on the bank.
What you see on the map
The Mosque-Cathedral. A huge rectangle by the river, with the Court of the Orange Trees and, inside, a Renaissance cathedral set into the forest of columns. On the map it is the mass that dominates the centre.
The Roman bridge and the Guadalquivir. The sixteen-arch bridge crosses the river to the Calahorra tower; in the riverbed, the islets, the vegetation and the old mills, such as the Albolafia.
The Jewish quarter. West of the Mezquita, the narrowest and most crooked alleys, with the Calleja de las Flores and the synagogue; it is the most maze-like part of the map.
The Alcázar and the Corredera. The gardens of the Alcázar of the Christian Monarchs, with their long pools, by the river; and to the east, the Plaza de la Corredera, an enclosed, arcaded rectangle.

Which scale and paper suit it
1:10,000 on a 30 cm square, as in the picture, covers 2.8 km: from the Jewish quarter to San Pedro and from the river to the Corredera. The streets are drawn one by one.
1:4,000 on A3 moves in on the Mezquita and the Jewish quarter, with every courtyard.
In sepia, as here, it looks like an old plan of the caliphal city; in coral, the colour of its brick.
Make it yours
Open the example and move the frame: Medina Azahara, the palace city of the caliphs on the outskirts, or the Santa Marina district, with its patios, deserve a map of their own.
Change all the colours at once with a theme (black ink, sepia, coral, night, blueprint) and download it as PNG. With a free account, also element by element, at 600 dpi, as vector PDF and as SVG.
