Your favourite place, drawn in lines
Pick a place, a paper size and a style. PlotMyMap draws the map stroke by stroke, with hatching, contour lines and lettering, and hands it to you ready to print, frame or plot.

How it works
1. Paper and scale. From A6 to A3, square for a frame or landscape for a screen; with a free account, also A2, posters up to 50 × 70 cm and custom sizes. You choose the scale: the site tells you how much ground fits.
2. The place. Search for a town or move the map. The frame is exactly what will end up on the paper.
3. The style. Topographic or aesthetic, six colour themes, and, with a free account, every map element (streets, buildings, water, forest) with its own colour, hatch and line width.
4. The download. PNG without signing up; with a free account, PNG up to 600 dpi, true-to-size vector PDF and SVG with one layer per colour.
Topographic: the terrain and its contours
Contour lines with their heights, UTM grid, peaks with their elevation, scale bar, north arrow and legend. In Spain the relief comes from the national five-metre elevation model and the buildings from the Cadastre.
It works for a valley at 1:10,000 as well as for a whole district at 1:100,000: the map adapts to the scale and drops what would not be visible.

Aesthetic: made for the wall
Coloured hatching, shore lines in the sea, a shadow under the buildings, and the map cropped to a circle if you like. Made so a city or a seaside village looks good in a frame.
Colour themes change the whole map at once: black ink, sepia, coral, night or blueprint.

Where the data comes from
From open sources: the map data is from OpenStreetMap; in Spain, buildings come from the Cadastre and elevation from the Instituto Geográfico Nacional.
Spain is fully prepared. For the rest of the world, each region's data is downloaded the first time someone asks for a map there: that first map takes a few minutes.
Every map carries the credit of its sources. Keep it if you publish the map.

A free map maker, still in development
PlotMyMap is a project in development. What you see really works: you can create a custom map of your city, your village or your mountain and download it ready to print, frame or plot. Meanwhile we keep adding regions of the world, styles and guides, and refining how every map is drawn.
And while we get everything properly set up, every feature is free: without signing up you make and download your map as PNG, and with a free account you get everything else: true-to-size vector PDF, SVG with one layer per colour, PNG up to 600 dpi, posters up to 50 × 70 cm and every map element your way.
That is why your feedback helps so much. If a map does not turn out as you expected, you miss an area or you have an idea, write to us: we read everything.
