Map of Valencia

A green ribbon crosses the city from side to side, curving around the centre. It is the old bed of the river Turia, and it is what makes Valencia recognisable from above.

What you see on the map

The Turia garden. After the flood of 1957 the river was diverted around the south of the city, and its old bed became a park several kilometres long. On the map it is a continuous green band, crossed by the bridges.

Ciutat Vella. Inside the curve of the river, the old town: an almond of small, irregular streets, its outline still marked by the ring roads that stand where the wall used to be.

The Ensanche. To the south-east, the orderly grid, cut through by the Grandes Vías.

The end of the riverbed. Downstream, towards the sea, the large shapes of the City of Arts and Sciences, with its sheets of water.

Make my map of Valencia

Valencia at 1:25,000: the old bed of the Turia, now a garden, wrapping around the old town and the Ensanche.

Which scale and paper suit it

1:25,000 on a 30 cm square, as in the picture, shows the whole curve of the river around the centre. At that scale the city is drawn as blocks, and the green of the riverbed stands out cleanly against them.

1:10,000 on A3 goes down to detail: Ciutat Vella with every street, or a stretch of the garden with its bridges.

Landscape or circle. The riverbed runs west to east, so a landscape format follows it well; a circle leaves it as an arc around the centre.

Make it yours

Open the example and move the frame: follow the riverbed to the harbour and La Malvarrosa, or focus on Russafa and the Ensanche.

Change all the colours at once with a theme (black ink, sepia, night, blueprint) and download it as PNG. With a free account, also element by element, at 600 dpi, as vector PDF and as SVG.
