Community rules
What can be published in the PlotMyMap community, how it is reviewed and what happens to what you publish.
What can be published
Maps made with PlotMyMap, with a title and, if you like, a description. They are published from “My maps”, with an account and a confirmed email.
No advertising or links to other websites, no texts that insult or attack anyone, and no personal data of other people.
Your privacy
The community shows your username, never your email.
A map shows a place. If it is your home, think about it: the marker and any coordinates in the subtitle are not published unless you deliberately tick that when publishing. A route is published if you leave its box ticked.
Review
We look at every map before it goes up. Once someone has several maps published without problems, theirs go up straight away.
We may decide not to publish a map, or remove it later, if it does not follow these rules. We will tell you why by email (you can turn these notices off in your account).
“Make it yours”
By publishing a map, you allow us to show it on PlotMyMap while it stays published, and you allow anyone to open it in the tool and make their own from it. If they publish it, it will say which map it comes from.
The map data comes from OpenStreetMap and the other sources each map credits; that credit always stays on the map.
If something is wrong
Each map's page has a “Report” button. With several reports from different people, the map is hidden until we review it. You can also write to us from the contact page.
If someone breaks these rules often, their account may lose the ability to publish.
Yours is yours
You can remove any of your maps whenever you like, from your account. If you delete your account, everything you have published is deleted.
